Donors and donations

The encounter between Swami Vivekananda and John D. Rockefeller is interesting. After giving his first large donation, Rockefeller has told that "You must be satisfied now, and you can thank me for it. " Swami did not lift his eyes, did not move. Where scholarships make the difference

Its really great to know that SSN college disburses Rs. 4 crore as scholarships this year.
I hope we get to see more scholarships being made available in every engineering college or rather any college. The scholarships available for the post-graduate students aspiring to study in american universities usually amazes me. In India too, Government scholarships are avaible for first-graduates in the family, merit scholarships and caste based scholarships but the coverage is very low. As the Indian economy booms, and as the global Indians making waves, I hope there are huge number of scholarships being instituted in their almamatters.

It is amazing that a single person could bring a change to so much people and yet she is not a very popular figure covered by other media - well, I may not be aware of it. The article in Good news India mentions that she has improved the lives of more than 100,000 women and children. Setting up a bank for children, by children, afforestation programme, rural empowerment, and the list goes on and on...
